Maison Francis Kurkdjian supports the opening of the Jardin du Parfumeur
Journal du luxe
Entering the portfolio of the LVMH group in 2017 , the perfumery house supported the creation of the Jardin du Parfumeur. Developed in association with the gardeners of the Versailles estate, this unique space is now open to the general public.
It has already been nearly a year since the first flowers in the paths and flowerbeds of the Jardin du Parfumeur were planted to ensure optimal flowering for its inauguration. Unveiled these days, this unique place highlights the surroundings of the orangery of Châteauneuf, located in the heart of the Trianon estate in Versailles. Until then closed to the public, this space is now intended to introduce people to the history of perfumery and its uses at court since the 17th century .
Presented in the form of three distinct plots, "The Garden of Curiosities", "Under the Trees" and "The Secret Garden", the Perfumer's Garden brings together hundreds of floral essences selected for their historical character or for their fragrant particularities . . Here, the species stand out both for the subtlety of their scents and for their ability to diffuse... bad smells. Some, called "dumb", have also been chosen for their total lack of fragrance.
If the patronage of the Francis Kurkdjian Maison aims to highlight the know-how specific to the label and the commitment of the LVMH group to heritage sites, this joint project also makes it possible to underline the links which unite the estate to the perfumer, also Director of olfactory creation at Dior . Trained at the Versailles School of Perfumery, Francis Kurkdjian had indeed reinterpreted Marie-Antoinette's perfume, "Queen's Wake" , from archival documents before initiating several olfactory experiments in the gardens of the castle.
